Android 9.0 or you can say Android P Developer Preview is now ready to download and install on Google pixel smartphones. March is going on and still only 2% of android smartphones have successful received Android Oreo upside. However, Google is working on Android P and rolled out Android P developer preview for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Before installing Android P developer preview on your Pixel device, you must know that this is a developer preview. This is not an official update and not a beta update. Google is still working on Android P, and they have only rolled out a developer preview. Therefore, this update is only for testers. This developer preview of android P might be buggy. Prerequisites

– This guide is only for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

– ‎Make sure to have a complete backup of your device.

– Charge your device to at least 75%.

– You must have installed ADB and Fastboot on your computer.

– ‎You must have installed all required USB drivers on your computer.

– ‎A USB cable.

– Enable USB Debugging on your device. To enable it navigate to Settings> Developer Options> USB Debugging.> Enable it.

– ‎Enable OEM Unlock on your device. To enable it navigate to Settings> Developer Options> OEM Unlock> Enable it.

– ‎Working internet connection to download the Android P developer preview.

– ‎Working mind and happiness.

Step 1:- Unlock the Bootloader:-

Before proceeding further you will need to unlock the boatloader of your device to install Android P developer preview. Therefore, follow below steps to unlock the bootloader:-

– First of all make sure that you have completed all steps of prerequisites.

– ‎Now connect your device to computer via. USB cable.

– ‎Now move the adb fastboot extracted files to the Downloaded Fastboot binary folder on your computer.

– ‎Now navigate to Fastboot binary folder and press Shift Key + Right Mouse Click to open a command prompt window.

– Now, type below command in command prompt window:-

adb reboot bootloader

Note:- This command will boot your device into bootloader mode.

– Now type below command to know fastboot drivers are installed properly on your computer:-

fastboot devices

Note:- This command will show a list of connected devices. In that list, your phone’s serial number will be shown that you can proceed further. If not, that means drivers are not installed priority. Try to again install the drivers.

– ‎Now, type below command:-

Pixel or Pixel XL: fastboot oem unlock
‎Pixel 2: fastboot flashing unlock
‎Pixel 2 XL: fastboot flashing unlock_critical

Note:- this command will unlock the bootloader of your device but keep in mind that this step will wipe everything on your phone.

– Here a prompt will appear on your device’s screen. Simply click OK.

– ‎Congratulations!!! You have successfully unlocked the bootloader of your android device.

Step 2:- Steps to install Android P Developer Preview on your device

– First of all download Android P developer preview for your device from above link.

– ‎After download complete, extract the downloaded zip file.

– ‎After extraction complete, you have clicked on extracted folder and you will find another zip file. Extract this zip file as well.

– ‎Here you have to move all the extracted files to the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed.

– Here your device must be connected to computer in bootloader mode.

– ‎Now type below command one by one to install android P on your device:-

fastboot flash bootloader <bootloader file name here>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader fastboot flash radio <radio file name here>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash -w update <image file name here>.zip
fastboot reboot

– Let the installation complete.

Alternative Step 2:- Install Android P developer preview via ADB Sideload

Note:- To follow this method, your device must be on latest march security patch OPM1.171019.021 and on android 8.1 Oreo. This method is an alternative method. Follow if the above method not works for you. The best part of this method is that you will not loss any data on your device.

You will need to download Android P developer preview OTA zip file from below provided link:-

> Pixel
> Pixel XL
> Pixel 2
> Pixel 2 XL

Now let’s begin:-

– First of all make sure that you have completed all the steps of prerequisites completely.

– Now connect your device to computer via. USB cable.

– ‎Now move the adb fastboot extracted files to the Downloaded Fastboot binary folder on your computer.

– ‎Now navigate to Fastboot binary folder and press Shift Key + Right Mouse Click to open a command prompt window.

– Now, type below command in command prompt window:-

adb reboot bootloader

Note:- This command will boot your device into bootloader mode.

– In bootloader mode, use the Volume key until you see Recovery.

– Here press the Power button to select then an android logo will appear.

– Now press and hold the Volume and Power button simultaneously. Here your device will boot into recovery mode.

– Here use Volume button to go up/down and use Power button to select.

– Select the Apply update from ADB the type below command on your computer:-

adb sideload <filename of update.zip>

– Let the installation complete.

– ‎Congratulations!! You have successfully installed Android P developer preview on your device.
